What is a bionic pancreas?
A group of polish scientists under the leadership of transplant surgeon prof. Michal Wszola MD, PhD want to print out a bionic pancreas to help thousands of diabetics in a way, which will replace the need for continuing insulin therapy
We want to print out a 3D bionic pancreas which will enable patients a normal life. Bionic pancreas will prevent complications due to diabetes. Also, it won’t be necessary for a diseased to take anti – rejection drugs.
The most important is, however, that patients will not have to wait to get a transplant. The pancreas will be printed out from a special 3D printer and will be personalized, as the cells in the printed pancreas will originate in stem cells of the diabetic patient.
Does it sound like medical science fiction? It is happening. However, our scientists encountered an obstacle. At this stage of their work we need a highly specialized 3D printer to make it possible to print out sterile pancreatic petals.
We need the 3D printer at the beginning of July. Our time is short but we don’t lack the faith it will succeed. We need 140.000 PLN to not to disappoint those waiting for a transplant
Make a donation and help us move our work forward!
Together we can fight for the lives and normal functioning of thousands of people suffering from diabetes.
Purchasing a 3D bioprinter and print out sterile pancreatic petals
For thousands of diabetics who are endangered due to fatal complications
Every 7 seconds in the world, someone dies due to complications of diabetes
Thank you all for supporting our project.
